Germany On a Path to Marriage Equality #SameSexMarriage

By: Jalenn Turre, Marketing, Business & Social Media Strategist

In a recent development, Germany is on its path for Marriage Equality.

Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel encouraged the Bundestag Members to weigh-in on “question for conscience”.  Her Parliamentary Leader Volker Kauder asked CDU’s members of the Bundestag to show for the vote. CDU (Christian Democratic Union of Germany) is Angela Merkel’s political party. The Social Democrats, Merkel’s  grand coalition partner are expected to table the voting sooner than September 24, 2017. (credit source: dw.com)

Speculations indicate that the vote may pass as majority of the Germans do not opposed to SameSex Marriage according to a study that was released  early this year by Germany’s Anti-discrimination Agency. Perhaps in the coming days or weeks Germany’s Marriage Equality will become a reality.

#LGBTI Australians Gain Support From Religious Leaders for #MarriageEquality

Pete Earthlé, IdeasNConversations @IdeasN

Perhaps Australia will be coming at age to accept ‘#MarriageEquality‘ among its citizens.

Hopefully, their divisive political leaders will come to an agreement in supporting this socially impactful legislation for their #LGBTI citizens.

Recently, Australia’s Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull was called by religious leaders to legislate marriage equality now.  Here are some of their highlights; (source: equalitycampaign.org.au)

  • More than 100 Australian Religious Leaders have called on the PM Malcolm Turnbull to legislate for marriage equality now.
  • Support from all major Australian religions – leaders from Catholic, Anglican, Uniting, Buddhist, Muslim and Jewish Faiths, the Salvation Army and the Quakers.
  • This is about Civil Marriage Equality – ensuring every Australian is afforded the same dignity and respect.

Happy 28th Anniversary of National Coming Out Day “October 11, 2016”

By Jalenn Turre, Marketing, Business & Social Media Strategist

“October 11th is an annual celebration within the LGBTQ community.

In 2016, we celebrate with everyone the 28 years Anniversary of the National Coming Out Day which was established by the Human Rights Campaign to honor all those individuals who came out as either lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or allied”

Backgrounder:

“28 years ago, on the anniversary of the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights, we first observed National Coming Out Day as a reminder that one of our most basic tools is the power of coming out. One out of every two Americans has someone close to them who is gay or lesbian. For transgender people, that number is only one in 10.

Coming out – whether it is as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or allied – still matters. When people know someone who is LGBTQ, they are far more likely to support equality under the law. Beyond that, our stories can be powerful to each other.” credit source: http://www.hrc.org

About HRC – Human Rights Campaign:

As the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer civil rights organization, HRC envisions a world where LGBTQ people are ensured of their basic equal rights, and can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community.

To learn more about HRC’s programs please visit their website and perhaps there is something that you can do to participate in any of their programs that will expand the basic equal rights of everyone especially the LGBTQs.
