Australia Day is the official National Day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales, and the raising of the Flag of Great Britain at Sydney Cove by Governor Arthur Phillip. In present-day Australia, celebrations reflect the diverse society and landscape of the nation, and are marked by community and family events, reflections on Australian history, official community awards, and citizenship ceremonies welcoming new immigrants into the Australian community.

Martin Luther King Jr Day – USA Holiday

By: Jalenn Turre, Marketing, Business & Social Media Strategist

January 19, 2015 is a US Federal Holiday. It is the day to remember the legacy that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has fought for us, being an American. He was born on January 15, 1928 and was assassinated in April 4th 1968. He stood for justice and equality as a civil rights leader.

Martin Luther King Jr

“I am in Birmingham because injustice is here,’’ he wrote in the letter, dated April 16, 1963. “… We have waited for more than 340 years for our constitutional and God given rights. The nations of Asia and Africa are moving with jetlike speed toward gaining political independence, but we still creep at horse and buggy pace toward gaining a cup of coffee at a lunch counter.’’ – said Martin Luther King III, noted of his father’s Letter from Birmingham Jail.

The 2014 celebration of Canada Day, the national day of Canada, will be celebrated internationally where Canadians are living, conducting business or enjoying a tourism experience.

This is a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act, 1867(today called the Constitution Act, 1867), which united three colonies into a single country called Canada within the British Empire.[1][2][3] Originally called Dominion Day (FrenchLe Jour de la Confédération), the holiday was renamed in 1982, the year theCanada Act was passed. Canada Day observances take place throughout Canada as well as among Canadians internationally. (source: wikipedia.org)

Canadians across the globe celebrate with different styles. In Toronto, Ontario, this year is the second year of celebration where they will provide exploding fireworks as a celebratory event among citizens.

Wherever our Canadian friends are, we wish you all with fun and enjoyable holiday.
