Happy 150th Anniversary Canada

By: Jalenn Turre, Marketing, Business & Social Media Strategist

Canada, Our best wishes for more 150 Anniversaries that will come …

We celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation. We come together as Canadians to celebrate the achievements of our great country, reflect on our past and present, and look boldly toward our future. – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Statement of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau;

“Canada’s story stretches back long before Confederation, to the first people who worked, loved, and built their lives here, and to those who came here centuries later in search of a better life for their families. In 1867, the vision of Sir George-Étienne Cartier and Sir John A. Macdonald, among others, gave rise to Confederation – an early union, and one of the moments that have come to define Canada.

“In the 150 years since, we have continued to grow and define ourselves as a country. We fought valiantly in two world wars, built the infrastructure that would connect us, and enshrined our dearest values – equality, diversity, freedom of the individual, and two official languages – in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. These moments, and many others, shaped Canada into the extraordinary country it is today – prosperous, generous, and proud.

“At the heart of Canada’s story are millions of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. They exemplify what it means to be Canadian: ambitious aspirations, leadership driven by compassion, and the courage to dream boldly. Whether we were born here or have chosen Canada as our home, this is who we are.

“Ours is a land of Indigenous Peoples, settlers, and newcomers, and our diversity has always been at the core of our success. Canada’s history is built on countless instances of people uniting across their differences to work and thrive together. We express ourselves in French, English, and hundreds of other languages, we practice many faiths, we experience life through different cultures, and yet we are one country. Today, as has been the case for centuries, we are strong not in spite of our differences, but because of them.

“As we mark Canada 150, we also recognize that for many, today is not an occasion for celebration. Indigenous Peoples in this country have faced oppression for centuries. As a society, we must acknowledge and apologize for past wrongs, and chart a path forward for the next 150 years – one in which we continue to build our nation-to-nation, Inuit-Crown, and government-to-government relationship with the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Nation.

“Our efforts toward reconciliation reflect a deep Canadian tradition – the belief that better is always possible. Our job now is to ensure every Canadian has a real and fair chance at success. We must create the right conditions so that the middle class, and those working hard to join it, can build a better life for themselves and their families.

“Great promise and responsibility await Canada. As we look ahead to the next 150 years, we will continue to rise to the most pressing challenges we face, climate change among the first ones. We will meet these challenges the way we always have – with hard work, determination, and hope.

“On the 150th anniversary of Confederation, we celebrate the millions of Canadians who have come together to make our country the strong, prosperous, and open place it is today. On behalf of the Government of Canada, I wish you and your loved ones a very happy Canada Day.” (credit source: PM Website)

Sensible Global #RealLeaders Agree With President Obama “Help Protect for Future Generations” #ClimateChange

Pete Earthlé, IdeasNConversations @IdeasN

The whole world like our planet earth to be livable in many centuries ahead. Every individual can do their part in fostering cleaner environment for everyone to enjoy including the future generations that will come. Bigotry and hypocrisy  are aliens on this planet earth. The Trump administration can quit anytime from Paris’ COP21 but the American people will not.

I’m confident that our states, cities, and businesses will step up and do even more to lead the way, and help protect for future generations the one planet we’ve got.” – President Barack Obama, June 1, 2017

President Obama released his vision about the continuing advancement of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change even in the absence of American government administration. Please find below the full text of President Obama’s Statement pertaining to Trump’s withdrawal of USA from the Climate Pact Agreement.

Statement by President Barack Obama:

A year and a half ago, the world came together in Paris around the first-ever global agreement to set the world on a low-carbon course and protect the world we leave to our children.

It was steady, principled American leadership on the world stage that made that achievement possible. It was bold American ambition that encouraged dozens of other nations to set their sights higher as well. And what made that leadership and ambition possible was America’s private innovation and public investment in growing industries like wind and solar – industries that created some of the fastest new streams of good-paying jobs in recent years, and contributed to the longest streak of job creation in our history.

Simply put, the private sector already chose a low-carbon future. And for the nations that committed themselves to that future, the Paris Agreement opened the floodgates for businesses, scientists, and engineers to unleash high-tech, low-carbon investment and innovation on an unprecedented scale.

The nations that remain in the Paris Agreement will be the nations that reap the benefits in jobs and industries created. I believe the United States of America should be at the front of the pack. But even in the absence of American leadership; even as this Administration joins a small handful of nations that reject the future; I’m confident that our states, cities, and businesses will step up and do even more to lead the way, and help protect for future generations the one planet we’ve got. Statements of 68 US Mayors leading 38 Million Americans;

“We will intensify efforts to meet each of our cities’ current climate goals, push for new action to meet the 1.5 degrees Celsius target, and work together to create a 21st century clean energy economy.

We will continue to lead. We are increasing investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency. We will buy and create more demand for electric cars and trucks. We will increase our efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions, create a clean energy economy, and stand for environmental justice. And if the President wants to break the promises made to our allies enshrined in the historic Paris Agreement, we’ll build and strengthen relationships around the world to protect the planet from devastating climate risks.

The world cannot wait — and neither will we.(source credit: PoliticusUSA)

Statement of Al Gore;

“Removing the United States from the Paris Agreement is a reckless and indefensible action. It undermines America’s standing in the world and threatens to damage humanity’s ability to solve the climate crisis in time.

But make no mistake: if President Trump won’t lead, the American people will. Civic leaders, mayors, governors, CEOs, investors and the majority of the business community will take up this challenge.

We are in the middle of a clean energy revolution that no single person or group can stop. President Trump’s decision is profoundly in conflict with what the majority of Americans want from our president; but no matter what he does, we will ensure that our inevitable transition to a clean energy economy continues.”         – Al Gore, Environmentalist, 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Winner, 45th US Vice President (source credit: HollywoodReporter)

Statement of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Canada;

“We are deeply disappointed that the United States federal government has decided to withdraw from the Paris Agreement. Canada is unwavering in our commitment to fight climate change and support clean economic growth. Canadians know we need to take decisive and collective action to tackle the many harsh realities of our changing climate.

“While the U.S. decision is disheartening, we remain inspired by the growing momentum around the world to combat climate change and transition to clean growth economies. We are proud that Canada stands united with all the other parties that support the Agreement. We will continue to work with our domestic and international partners to drive progress on one of the greatest challenges we face as a world.

“This is not only about the huge economic opportunities of clean growth and the need to address the pressing threats of climate change. This is about an ambitious and unshakeable desire to leave a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable planet for our kids and for generations to come.

“We are all custodians of this world, and that is why Canada will continue to work with the U.S. at the state level, and with other U.S. stakeholders, to address climate change and promote clean growth. We will also continue to reach out to the U.S. federal government to discuss this matter of critical importance for all humankind, and to identify areas of shared interest for collaboration, including on emissions reductions.”      – Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister, Canada (source credit: PM Website)

Statement of Japan’s Foreign Ministry;

“Climate change requires a concerted effort by the whole of the international community. Japan believes the leadership of the developed countries to be of great importance, and the steady implementation of the Paris agreement is critical in this regard. The recent announcement by the US administration on its withdrawal … is regrettable.” (source credit: theGuardian)

Statement of EU Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete;

“Today’s announcement has galvanised us rather than weakened us, and this vacuum will be filled by new broad committed leadership. Europe and its strong partners all around the world are ready to lead the way”

Statement of Prince Andrew of Monaco;

“This decision represents a very serious error of judgment for our planet and for future generations. It also weakens America’s global leadership and compromises the country’s own economic interests by underestimating the growth prospects offered by a low-carbon economy based on technological innovation.

“I want to believe that the states, the people and cities in American states which are already engaged in a virtuous cycle of transformation and those who understand the importance of this for future generations, will continue their efforts to promote low-carbon, sustainable and resilient economic growth.

“More than ever, the Principality of Monaco stands by its commitment to the fight against climate change with ambitious targets which exceed those set out in the Paris Agreement. I call upon all nations of the world, signatories to this Agreement, to continue and confirm their commitments in support of a cause that affects the preservation of the Earth and of humanity.” (credit source: royalcentral.co.uk)

#Plant-a-tree Do Not Deny #ClimateChange – Be A Part of #EarthDay #MarchforScience

By: Jalenn Turre, Marketing, Business & Social Media Strategist

“Today is #EarthDay so we rolled up our sleeves early to participate in our #treeplantingchallenge every year. This is our way of supporting #marchforscience and recognizing #EarthDay.

Everyone who believes about #RealScience and #NotClimateChangeDeniers participated in the #MarchforScience across the United States today.

I have planted my tree this year 2017. Last week, my elderly neighbor asked me to help them plant a tree in their lot, and we agreed to do it today in recognition of #EarthDay. How about you? There are many ways to participate in this in your own environment. Talk to your neighbors and friends; do something together to help sustain our natural environment.

A Climate Scientist from Pennsylvania State University Mr. Michael Mann shared his insights:

“We didn’t choose to be in this battle, but it has come to the point where we have to fight because the stakes are too great” source: wsvn.com

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau issued the following statements for #EarthDay.

“Today, we join the global community to celebrate Earth Day – a time to connect with nature and reaffirm our commitment to build a cleaner, more sustainable world for our children.

“As Canadians, we have a responsibility to safeguard our planet and natural treasures. I am proud of the steps our Government has taken to protect the environment and promote clean growth. These steps include historic domestic and international agreements that will help us respond to pressing environmental challenges, grow the economy, and build a cleaner, healthier tomorrow.

“On Earth Day, we recognize Indigenous cultures that have long understood the intricate links that exist between land, water, air, and all living things. Ensuring that decisions today serve generations tomorrow requires an active effort from all of us.

“Canada looks forward to hosting World Environment Day on June 5 this year. Like Earth Day, it will be an occasion to celebrate our connections to our environment and to each other.

“On behalf of the Government of Canada, Sophie and I encourage all Canadians to take a moment today to go outside, find renewal in nature, and appreciate the environment that connects us all.” (source: http://pm.gc.ca/eng/)

“Lean On Each Other” – An Opportunity for the World To See

By: Jalenn Turre, Marketing, Business & Social Media Strategist

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada shared his thoughts (see image above) before the opening of the Musical “Come From Away” – the Broadway Musical that displays the humane engagements of people from La Jolla, Seattle, Washington D.C. and Toronto.

“In a heartbeat, 38 planes with 6,579 passengers were stranded in a remote town in Newfoundland. The locals opened their hearts and homes, hosting this international community of strangers–spurring unexpected camaraderie in extraordinary circumstances.” (source credit: comefromaway.com)

“The experiences of those who were welcomed in Newfoundland, Canada were not different to numerous experiences of others when they became strangers in other lands, met locales in distant places who welcomed them; humanity exists among men; extending a hand to someone who needed help regardless of origin and status is the real behavior that comes from the heart.”

#JustinTrudeau Understands the Predicaments of the Canadian Society

By: Jalenn Turre, Marketing, Business & Social Media Strategist

Canada’s Prime Minister cares about people.

“How we care for the most vulnerable in our society is very important.” – said Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister, Canada

Justin Trudeau_

Mr. Trudeau discussed that “the eligibility for old age security is being rolled back to age 65, effectively banging the dents out of the retirement plans affected by the Harper government’s 2012 decision to slowly increase the age of OAS eligibility to 67.”

This was a great news to the Canadian elderly who must have been affected of such 2012 decision.

While in New York, USA, #JustinTrudeau indicated during his interview with Bloomberg TV that in the Canadian Budget that will be released next week will confirm that the Canadian retirement age will be 65 and not 67 as the previous administration of Canada have decided.

As Mr. Trudeau navigates his role as the Canada’s Prime Minister, he is touching the lives of people that he cares about. His competency as a Prime Minister is demonstrated in every action that he and his teams including his cabinet were executing. He practices ‘true leadership’. More Power to the Trudeau Government of Canada.

#APEChottie Dominated Manila’s Multimedia Platforms Between Justin of Canada and Enrique of Mexico

By: Jalenn Turre, Marketing, Business & Social Media Strategist

On a lighter weight of economic discussions among leaders during the APEC 2015 in Manila, the people have different perspectives.

Every international event, there are instances that grab the attention of the world and the local host country. During the 2015 APEC Summit of Leaders of the 21 country members and over 10,000 delegates from APEC Region and non-member countries, the Philippines’ media have been broadcasting about the handsome leaders of Canada and Mexico. The anticipation was building among citizens particularly online as the APEC Leaders began arriving at the Philippine soil.

On one highlight of the Philippines as a host, the people created a hastag #APEChottie which linked to Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto,  Multimedia platforms from newspapers, international digital sites, television stations and radios were all talking about #APEChottie.

A Twitter poll with the hashtag #APEChottie, one of the most trending on social media, pitted new Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau against Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto for the most good-looking leader at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. (source: reuters.com)

At the news conference just before Trudeau was mobbed, he was asked about the recent celebrity-like attention he was encountering.

“I’m pleased Canada is getting a little more attention because it gives us an opportunity to highlight issues that are important to us.”

Prompted by the arrival of Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau in the Philippines for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, local netizens came up with a social media poll to compare the “hotness” rivalry between of the Canadian Bae and The Mexican Papi. #ClimateChange Impact to the Society as a Whole Triggered the Rejection of Keystone Pipeline

By: Juntee Terrenal, GMS, Strategic International Business Leader, Adviser & Coach

It is a great move in rejecting the Keystone Pipeline project. This is a long overdue action, stopping the demands of firms that are creating greater pollution into this mother earth.

Kudos to the heads of governments who value the impact of pollution toward humanity and environment.

“Now for years, the Keystone Pipeline has occupied what I, frankly, consider and overinflated role in our political discourse. It became a symbol too often used as a campaign cudgel by both parties rather than a serious policy matter.

And all of this obscured the fact that this pipeline would neither be a silver bullet for the economy, as was promised by some, nor the express lane to climate disaster proclaimed by others.” – said President Obama.

Credits: AP, WashingtonPost

_2015 ClimateChange Rejected KeystonePipeline

Canada’s Prime Minister’s Diplomatic Competency in regards to Keystone XL Pipeline:

“We are disappointed by the decision but respect the right of the United States to make the decision.

“The Canada-U.S. relationship is much bigger than any one project and I look forward to a fresh start with President Obama to strengthen our remarkable ties in a spirit of friendship and co-operation.

“We know that Canadians want a government that they can trust to protect the environment and grow the economy. The Government of Canada will work hand-in-hand with provinces, territories and like-minded countries to combat climate change, adapt to its impacts, and create the clean jobs of tomorrow.” – said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

The final determination comes 2,604 days after Transcanada first applied for State Department approval to build the 1,179-mile cross-border pipeline from Alberta or Nebraska. Earlier this week, the State Department rejected the company’s request to delay a final determination. (sourcecredit-usatoday: Obama to reject Keystone Pipeline)

Perspectives:

It is morally wrong to think about losing a job creation opportunity as the incognito investors’ intent to this project besides benefiting from its profit; while sacrificing the health of the majority of humanity and environment.

Investors who are truly interested in creating jobs and opportunities of employment can create other non-polluting businesses toward humanity and environment.

Everyone in this planet earth must do their share in protecting this environment. People must use critical thinking about every initiatives that are proposed particularly those that will affect everyone socially, environmentally, and economically.

#RealChange Justin Trudeau Elected as Canada’s Prime Minister

By: Juntee Terrenal, GMS, Strategic International Business Leader, Adviser & Coach

Canadians elected Justin Trudeau as their new Prime Minister based on his #RealChange philosophy that will challenge the ‘established comfortability’ of the Canadian politics.

Justin Trudeau, 43 years old, a former teacher by profession; was first elected in 2008 as an MP of Papineau riding, Montreal, Canada. He is married to Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau. The father of three (Xavier James, Ella-Grace Margaret, and Hadrien); becomes the second-youngest Canadian prime minister in history after Joe Clark who was 40 years old when he took office.

He is the leader of the Liberal Party that booted out the conservative Harper’s government and its political maneuvering.

An incredible 68 percent turn out of Canadians across the  country with a commanding 184 seats (majority government) in the next Canadian’s House of Commons from a mere 36 seats prior to his leadership campaign to become the Prime Minister under the Liberal Party.

“This is what positive politics can do,” Justin told supporters late Monday night during his victory address via Live Broadcast of CBCNews Canada. The prime minister-designate demonstrated an  inclusive and collaborative tone during his victory speech after being declared the ‘Prime Minister-Elect’

“You and your fellow citizens have chosen a new government, a government that believes deeply in the diversity of our country, We know in our bones that Canada is a country built by people from all corners of the world, who worship every faith, who belong to every culture, who speak every language.”

“We believe in our hearts that this country’s unique diversity is a blessing bestowed on us by previous generations of Canadians — Canadians who stared down prejudice and fought discrimination in all its forms. We know that our enviable, inclusive society didn’t happen by accident, and won’t continue without effort…”

Canada also implemented this program for the conveniences of frequent travelers. In a recent travel to Australia, this same program exist there as well. First hand experience; it was a breeze without issues; conveniently in and out of the airport without delays.

For those who are only crossing the border between Canada and USA – the more popular program is called Nexus. This is also an equally great program for business people and individuals who are crossing the borders all the time.  For Americans in the Washington State who would like to get a Nexus card, there is a new office for application that is based in Blaine, WA.

By: Juntee Terrenal, GMS, Strategic International Business Leader, Adviser & Coach

“Our government is committed to facilitating legitimate trade and travel, including supporting Canada’s air industry efforts to attract more transit business to the country.

This expansion of the China Transit Program will help generate more business for our airlines and airports, and could potentially lead to the opening of new routes and destinations, which would benefit all travellers, including Canadians.” said, Chris Alexander, Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister

“YVR’s goal is to connect B.C. proudly to the world by becoming a world-class sustainable connecting hub. This is huge step in the right direction for YVR, British Columbia and Canada. The expansion of the China Transit Program will make YVR more attractive to transiting travellers and ultimately increase YVR’s air service and passenger growth.” said, Craig Richmond, President & CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority.

Today, May, 19, 2015, Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander announced at the Vancouver International Airport the expansion of the China Transit Program (CTP).
