Happy 150th Anniversary Canada

By: Jalenn Turre, Marketing, Business & Social Media Strategist

Canada, Our best wishes for more 150 Anniversaries that will come …

We celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation. We come together as Canadians to celebrate the achievements of our great country, reflect on our past and present, and look boldly toward our future. – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Statement of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau;

“Canada’s story stretches back long before Confederation, to the first people who worked, loved, and built their lives here, and to those who came here centuries later in search of a better life for their families. In 1867, the vision of Sir George-Étienne Cartier and Sir John A. Macdonald, among others, gave rise to Confederation – an early union, and one of the moments that have come to define Canada.

“In the 150 years since, we have continued to grow and define ourselves as a country. We fought valiantly in two world wars, built the infrastructure that would connect us, and enshrined our dearest values – equality, diversity, freedom of the individual, and two official languages – in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. These moments, and many others, shaped Canada into the extraordinary country it is today – prosperous, generous, and proud.

“At the heart of Canada’s story are millions of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. They exemplify what it means to be Canadian: ambitious aspirations, leadership driven by compassion, and the courage to dream boldly. Whether we were born here or have chosen Canada as our home, this is who we are.

“Ours is a land of Indigenous Peoples, settlers, and newcomers, and our diversity has always been at the core of our success. Canada’s history is built on countless instances of people uniting across their differences to work and thrive together. We express ourselves in French, English, and hundreds of other languages, we practice many faiths, we experience life through different cultures, and yet we are one country. Today, as has been the case for centuries, we are strong not in spite of our differences, but because of them.

“As we mark Canada 150, we also recognize that for many, today is not an occasion for celebration. Indigenous Peoples in this country have faced oppression for centuries. As a society, we must acknowledge and apologize for past wrongs, and chart a path forward for the next 150 years – one in which we continue to build our nation-to-nation, Inuit-Crown, and government-to-government relationship with the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Nation.

“Our efforts toward reconciliation reflect a deep Canadian tradition – the belief that better is always possible. Our job now is to ensure every Canadian has a real and fair chance at success. We must create the right conditions so that the middle class, and those working hard to join it, can build a better life for themselves and their families.

“Great promise and responsibility await Canada. As we look ahead to the next 150 years, we will continue to rise to the most pressing challenges we face, climate change among the first ones. We will meet these challenges the way we always have – with hard work, determination, and hope.

“On the 150th anniversary of Confederation, we celebrate the millions of Canadians who have come together to make our country the strong, prosperous, and open place it is today. On behalf of the Government of Canada, I wish you and your loved ones a very happy Canada Day.” (credit source: PM Website)

“About Everyday Life and About All of Us” Said #JeremyCorbyn

Pete Earthlé, IdeasNConversations @IdeasN

More power to the Jeremy Corbyn, Leader of Labour Party in the United Kingdom. Today, he was welcomed at the Glastonbury Festival 2017 with a ‘thunderous applause’ once he arrived at the event (please see image below).

The Guardian reported that “Tens of thousands gathered to watch Corbyn in mid-afternoon – a crowd of a size typically reserved for Glastonbury headliners. Almost all those present were fans, many wearing T-shirts bearing his face or name, and there were dozens of banners of appreciation.” (creditsource: theguardian)

Jeremy Corbyn gained respect and admiration among UK Citizens because of his character, competency, humility and values as an individual. Many Britons across Europe call him “relatable person who is leading the entire nation and his party”. Everyday, the Labour Party is increasing their membership and people across UK likes him to take over the Premiership of the nation. At any time in the future there is a great possibility that another general election will be held in the UK. And the new Prime Minister will be Jeremy Corbyn of Labour Party.

Theresa May’s administration is now very wobbly and weak. Almost daily or weekly, that there were scandals and court decisions that were written against her. She lost her mandate based from the result of the Snap Election last that she called two weeks ago. By losing the majority she was forced to make a coalition with the DUP of Ireland in order to form a majority government. In the past, the DUP party demonstrated hate and inequality particularly to the LGBTI+ community.  (creditsources: theguardian  and HuffingtonPostUK)

In the recent Opening of Parliament, the world was surprised when the Queen arrived at the Parliament by her car not her Queen’s carriage and was wearing a day dress instead of her Queen’s regalias.  According to theCanary, a similar event took place in the past during the term of Conservative leader Edward Heath. Soon after, Mr. Heath resigned and he was a history. Speculatively, a similar fashion may take place for Ms. May and Jeremy Corbyn will form a minority government. (creditsource: theCanary)

#LGBTI Australians Gain Support From Religious Leaders for #MarriageEquality

Pete Earthlé, IdeasNConversations @IdeasN

Perhaps Australia will be coming at age to accept ‘#MarriageEquality‘ among its citizens.

Hopefully, their divisive political leaders will come to an agreement in supporting this socially impactful legislation for their #LGBTI citizens.

Recently, Australia’s Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull was called by religious leaders to legislate marriage equality now.  Here are some of their highlights; (source: equalitycampaign.org.au)

  • More than 100 Australian Religious Leaders have called on the PM Malcolm Turnbull to legislate for marriage equality now.
  • Support from all major Australian religions – leaders from Catholic, Anglican, Uniting, Buddhist, Muslim and Jewish Faiths, the Salvation Army and the Quakers.
  • This is about Civil Marriage Equality – ensuring every Australian is afforded the same dignity and respect.

Congratulations to Leo Varadkar, An Openly Gay and Youngest Taoiseach of Ireland

Pete Earthlé, IdeasNConversations @IdeasN

“It is great to see another member of the LGBTQ+ as #RealLeader of a nation; this time the Taoiseach of Ireland – Leo Varadkar. Congratulation and more power to the Prime Minister.

 “He represents a younger generation. He represents a modern, diverse and inclusive Ireland and speaks for them like no other, an Ireland in which each person can fulfill their potential and live their dreams,” – Outgoing Prime Minister Enda Kenny (source: vox.com)

Background:

In April 2003, Leo Varadkar completed his six-year degree in medicine at Trinity College Dublin. He was a member of Young Fine Gael on campus and was elected as a councillor with 5,000 first preference votes a year after he entered politics. Leo is the first graduate of the college to be elected Taoiseach.

He is now in the Irish history book, as the first openly gay and country’s youngest prime minister, and the son of an Indian immigrant. Leo’s partner is Matthew Barrett, who is also a doctor by profession.

Leo Varadkar, 38 and newly elected Taoiseach of Ireland, is the EU’s youngest national leader;  Jüri Ratas, is 38-year-old  and the Prime Minister of Estonia, and Emmanuel Macron, 39, the recently elected President of France; the trio are all under  the age of 40. (source reference: theguardian)

UK Citizens Have Cornered Theresa May’s Arrogance And Insensitivity: The Hung Parliament “the youths played a big role”

Pete Earthlé, IdeasNConversations @IdeasN

The UK Citizens have decided to give Theresa May the tail of her political career after presenting herself with arrogance and insensitivity toward the British people. The election that she demanded backfired and the results will intensify the end of her premiership. Her failure to garner majority seats was impacted by her self-mandated election. Now, her moments as a prime minister is numbered as her party colleagues are rising to oust her.

Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour Party Leader and #RealLeader have transformed the UK’s political energy where every generation, particularly the millennials went to the polls yesterday to decide their future and other generations future. His party ignited support across United Kingdom because they presented a humane-manifesto that illustrated care for their own citizenry.

As Matthew d’Ancona puts it “her dreams lie in ashes“.

In the coming days and weeks, we will witness some tactical strategies that May’s team will implement in order to try hard in saving their losses from the Citizenry; who turned their back on them. In progress, the camp of the ‘Theresa May’ and the ‘DUP’ – Democratic Unionist Party of Northern Ireland are trying to cooperate as a Coalition. The Citizens of UK might get blind-sided with the approach of Theresa May and her team because they are teaming-up with a ‘hateful group’ – the DUP.

Perhaps the Labour party will disclose all the DUP’s past in order to navigate a trustworthy government of UK for the sake of the Citizenry. More power to the new Labour Party under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn and his team.

“We Need You” “The World Needs You” – Senator Kamala Harris

By: Jalenn Turre, Marketing, Business & Social Media Strategist

Senator Kamala Harris is a new US Senator of California who possesses the quality of leadership and competency that is essential in the US Congress. We need more of her type of DNA, #RealLeader that will influence the current and future Congress of America. She is currently demonstrating exceptional senatorial competency that is prominent and intelligent; especially when questioning during the senate hearing of  ‘Trump Russia Scandal’. She is a Rising Star in the US Senate and is someone to be watched of her transformation for any future political office.

Recently she gave an inspiring commencement address to the 2017 graduating class at Howard University.

“And I know sometimes we’re afraid of falling short. It’s not that we don’t know what we should do. It’s that the bar can sometimes feel too high. It takes so much time and effort to reach it, so much sweat and so many tears. And being human, we sometimes fall short. And that’s OK.”

“We call for a #MarchForTruth on Saturday, June 3rd to raise our voices and let our elected leaders know that Americans want answers. The legitimacy of our democracy is more important than the interests of any party, or any President. So, we will rise together to call for a fair and impartial investigation, for the pursuit of truth, and for the restoration of faith in our electoral system and the Office of the Presidency.”

The Goals:

  • An independent commission must be established, and Congressional investigations should be properly resourced and pursued free of partisan interests;
  • As much information should be made available to the public as possible, and as soon as possible;
  • Congress should require Donald Trump to release his tax returns to clarify his business interests and obligations to any foreign entity;
  • If crimes were committed or if collusion is discovered, it must be prosecuted.

The #MarchforTruth is one among the voices of America, that will be fighting for the preservation of democracy. More power to all Americans who are fighting for the real truth, against fake news and alternative facts.

Sensible Global #RealLeaders Agree With President Obama “Help Protect for Future Generations” #ClimateChange

Pete Earthlé, IdeasNConversations @IdeasN

The whole world like our planet earth to be livable in many centuries ahead. Every individual can do their part in fostering cleaner environment for everyone to enjoy including the future generations that will come. Bigotry and hypocrisy  are aliens on this planet earth. The Trump administration can quit anytime from Paris’ COP21 but the American people will not.

I’m confident that our states, cities, and businesses will step up and do even more to lead the way, and help protect for future generations the one planet we’ve got.” – President Barack Obama, June 1, 2017

President Obama released his vision about the continuing advancement of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change even in the absence of American government administration. Please find below the full text of President Obama’s Statement pertaining to Trump’s withdrawal of USA from the Climate Pact Agreement.

Statement by President Barack Obama:

A year and a half ago, the world came together in Paris around the first-ever global agreement to set the world on a low-carbon course and protect the world we leave to our children.

It was steady, principled American leadership on the world stage that made that achievement possible. It was bold American ambition that encouraged dozens of other nations to set their sights higher as well. And what made that leadership and ambition possible was America’s private innovation and public investment in growing industries like wind and solar – industries that created some of the fastest new streams of good-paying jobs in recent years, and contributed to the longest streak of job creation in our history.

Simply put, the private sector already chose a low-carbon future. And for the nations that committed themselves to that future, the Paris Agreement opened the floodgates for businesses, scientists, and engineers to unleash high-tech, low-carbon investment and innovation on an unprecedented scale.

The nations that remain in the Paris Agreement will be the nations that reap the benefits in jobs and industries created. I believe the United States of America should be at the front of the pack. But even in the absence of American leadership; even as this Administration joins a small handful of nations that reject the future; I’m confident that our states, cities, and businesses will step up and do even more to lead the way, and help protect for future generations the one planet we’ve got. Statement of Bill Peduto, Mayor of Pittsburgh, PA;

As the Mayor of Pittsburgh, I can assure you that we will follow the guidelines of the Paris Agreement for our people, our economy & future. (source credit: Twitter/BillPeduto)

Statements of 68 US Mayors leading 38 Million Americans;

“We will intensify efforts to meet each of our cities’ current climate goals, push for new action to meet the 1.5 degrees Celsius target, and work together to create a 21st century clean energy economy.

We will continue to lead. We are increasing investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency. We will buy and create more demand for electric cars and trucks. We will increase our efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions, create a clean energy economy, and stand for environmental justice. And if the President wants to break the promises made to our allies enshrined in the historic Paris Agreement, we’ll build and strengthen relationships around the world to protect the planet from devastating climate risks.

The world cannot wait — and neither will we.(source credit: PoliticusUSA)

Statement of Al Gore;

“Removing the United States from the Paris Agreement is a reckless and indefensible action. It undermines America’s standing in the world and threatens to damage humanity’s ability to solve the climate crisis in time.

But make no mistake: if President Trump won’t lead, the American people will. Civic leaders, mayors, governors, CEOs, investors and the majority of the business community will take up this challenge.

We are in the middle of a clean energy revolution that no single person or group can stop. President Trump’s decision is profoundly in conflict with what the majority of Americans want from our president; but no matter what he does, we will ensure that our inevitable transition to a clean energy economy continues.”         – Al Gore, Environmentalist, 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Winner, 45th US Vice President (source credit: HollywoodReporter)

Statement of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Canada;

“We are deeply disappointed that the United States federal government has decided to withdraw from the Paris Agreement. Canada is unwavering in our commitment to fight climate change and support clean economic growth. Canadians know we need to take decisive and collective action to tackle the many harsh realities of our changing climate.

“While the U.S. decision is disheartening, we remain inspired by the growing momentum around the world to combat climate change and transition to clean growth economies. We are proud that Canada stands united with all the other parties that support the Agreement. We will continue to work with our domestic and international partners to drive progress on one of the greatest challenges we face as a world.

“This is not only about the huge economic opportunities of clean growth and the need to address the pressing threats of climate change. This is about an ambitious and unshakeable desire to leave a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable planet for our kids and for generations to come.

“We are all custodians of this world, and that is why Canada will continue to work with the U.S. at the state level, and with other U.S. stakeholders, to address climate change and promote clean growth. We will also continue to reach out to the U.S. federal government to discuss this matter of critical importance for all humankind, and to identify areas of shared interest for collaboration, including on emissions reductions.”      – Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister, Canada (source credit: PM Website)

Statement of Japan’s Foreign Ministry;

“Climate change requires a concerted effort by the whole of the international community. Japan believes the leadership of the developed countries to be of great importance, and the steady implementation of the Paris agreement is critical in this regard. The recent announcement by the US administration on its withdrawal … is regrettable.” (source credit: theGuardian)

Statement of EU Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete;

“Today’s announcement has galvanised us rather than weakened us, and this vacuum will be filled by new broad committed leadership. Europe and its strong partners all around the world are ready to lead the way”

Statement of Prince Andrew of Monaco;

“This decision represents a very serious error of judgment for our planet and for future generations. It also weakens America’s global leadership and compromises the country’s own economic interests by underestimating the growth prospects offered by a low-carbon economy based on technological innovation.

“I want to believe that the states, the people and cities in American states which are already engaged in a virtuous cycle of transformation and those who understand the importance of this for future generations, will continue their efforts to promote low-carbon, sustainable and resilient economic growth.

“More than ever, the Principality of Monaco stands by its commitment to the fight against climate change with ambitious targets which exceed those set out in the Paris Agreement. I call upon all nations of the world, signatories to this Agreement, to continue and confirm their commitments in support of a cause that affects the preservation of the Earth and of humanity.” (credit source: royalcentral.co.uk)
