By: Jalenn Turre, Marketing, Business & Social Media Strategist

The G20 Leaders were successful in putting “Climate Change” as among the Agenda at G20 Summit, that was held in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Brisbane is the capital of Australian state of Queensland; the most populous city in the state of Queensland, and the third most populous city in Australia.

“Here in the Asia Pacific nobody has more at stake when it comes to thinking about and then acting on climate change,” Obama said. “Here in Australia it means longer droughts, more wildfires.”

US president Barack Obama announced the US would devote $US3 billion to the fund, before he made a rallying call on Saturday for global action to curb greenhouse gas emissions.

Japan pledged it would contribute $US1.5 billion to the climate fund on Sunday, taking the total commitment of nations so far to about $US8 billion. The fund wants to raise $US10-15 billion by the end of the month. – source: Sydney Morning Herald

Mum moving to Perth

September turned out to be a pretty emotional and busy month for us all.   We have said a lot of goodbyes so far, enjoyed a lot of days out and probably, most likely, if I’m completely honest with myself….drank a little bit too much wine and champagne.  Celebrating our move with our friends has been great fun but not so much for my waistline….I have thrown myself into detox mode thinking ahead to the glorious Perth summer and beach weather.  So yes, Perth will be our new home in 6 days’ time….Wow 6 DAYS (no longer are we counting months or weeks, we’ve hit the days mark)…..  This time next week we will have arrived into Perth and will hopefully be getting some sleep after a long 24 hour journey. Well maybe….our daughters may have other plans as they adjust to the 7 hour time change and dreaded jet lag.

CAN+ Opens Permanent Residence to Indian Nationals in Technology & Venture Capital

By: World Migration Group “No Borders. No Boundaries”

Note: This content first appeared at the Blog section of World Migration Group; subsequently Dr. Alex Titov, President & Senior Partner of World Migration Group  authorized the re-publication of the article here at ReloNavigator’s WordPress. World Migration Group is ReloNavigator’s Established Professionals & Trusted NetworkSM (EPTN)” which is based in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

CAN+ is now open to Indian nationals who have traveled to Canada or the USA within the last 10 years. They will benefit from expedited processing, which will free up visa officers to work on other cases, improving overall processing times for all Indian travellers.

Benefits of CAN+ for Indian nationals

A CAN+ pilot program in India delivered impressive results with visas issued within five days and an approval rate over 95 per cent. Individuals eligible for CAN+ visa processing do not need to provide as many supporting documents when submitting their applications.

Supporting statistics:

  • Indian nationals rank in the top 10 source countries of international visitors to Canada. In 2013, more than 130,000 visitor visas were issued to Indian citizens, and nearly 14,000 Indian citizens were issued student permits.
  • Between January and June 2014, almost 95 per cent of visitor visas issued to Indian nationals were multiple-entry visas, allowing travellers to visit Canada as many times as they want for up to 10 years.

Express visa programs

Three visa “Express” programs that help Indian businesspeople, tourists and students come to Canada faster include:

  1. Business Express expedites business travel from India with visas issued within three days with a near-perfect approval rate for those registered in the program.
  2. Tourist Partner Program offers a fast, simplified visa application process for tourists who use travel agencies registered with the Canadian Embassy.
  3. Student Partners Program fast-tracks the processing of study permits with visas issued within 13 days or less for those who study at participating Canadian educational institutions.

The immigration minister Chris Alexander said: “We are telling all brilliant young technology minds, ‘if you can get Canadian venture capital, or an angel investor to back you with funds or just with their time, we offer you permanent residence.’ No one else in the world does that. It’s a pilot project and we already have a couple of hundred applications in process.

ReloNavigator will be pleased to assist you with strategic options and guidance in planning your immigration to Canada.

For inquiries and guidance about the CAN+, please call 1 (360) 312-4300 and identify this code: RLN2014WMG. Our Canadian Immigration Practice Leader will be glad to speak with you.  You can also reach us via email by sending your inquiries to:

“Let us not forget that real poverty hurts: no self-denial is real without this dimension of penance. I distrust a charity that costs nothing and does not hurt.” said Pope Francis

The pope’s message to the crowd on Palm Sunday in the Vatican;

“called on people, including himself, to examine their own lives to see how they’re living and ask themselves “Where is my heart?”

“Has my life fallen asleep?” Francis asked in reference to Jesus’s disciples who fell asleep right before Judas betrayed him. “Am I like Pontius Pilate, who, when he sees the situation is difficult, washes my hands?”

Discriminating Racial-based Hiring Practices of Bank of America Ordered with Penalty

Recently, the Department of Labor published a Judge Order for Bank of America’s racial discriminatory hiring practices.  Back Wages and interests were ordered to be paid to those candidates who were rejected.

“Wherever doors of opportunity are unfairly closed to workers, we will be there to open them — no matter how long it takes,” said OFCCP Director Patricia A. Shiu. “Judge Chapman’s decision upholds the legal principle of making victims of discrimination whole, and these workers deserve to get the full measure of what is owed to them.”

On Nov. 24, 1993, OFCCP initiated a routine compliance review that revealed indications of systemic hiring discrimination affecting African American job seekers at the Charlotte facility. After conciliation efforts failed, the Solicitor of Labor in 1997 filed an administrative complaint against the company for violating Executive Order 11246, which prohibits federal contractors from discriminating in employment practices on the basis of race.

“Our investigators and attorneys prevailed despite decades of stalling tactics,” said Solicitor of Labor M. Patricia Smith. “This case demonstrates that the department will not be deterred in our pursuit of justice for job seekers.”

Please click the link to read the full News Release.

Yet another bad practice that Bank of America has been doing.  As a big bank, what were the responsibilities of their employment executives? Why do they allow discriminatory practices when hiring workforce.  Companies like Bank of America that demonstrates these types of hiring practices should not be allowed to be touting ‘good business practices’ at conferences regardless of locations.
